You might recognize Pinto from the long hours she spends in the CSI Ministries guest house preparing meals for the short-term mission teams. But as Christmas is celebrated around the world, it is inspiring to watch Janeta Pinto use her God-given gifts of cooking and caring for others through her annual Christmas Treat. She engages children each year at the Friends Church in Highgate and always loves additional hands to help.
Pinto prepares all year long by telling short-term mission team members about the annual event. They join in Pinto’s generosity by donating coloring books, crayons, children’s books, small toys, stuffed animals and hygiene items. Pinto spends Christmas preparing a meal and cake and ice cream that she lovingly serves to all the children and their parents that attend the Christmas Treat.
As guests arrive, they join in worshipful singing of Christmas Carols lead by community volunteers.
Each child is blessed with gifts, which are sorted and prepared by Pinto and other volunteers at the guest house.
It is evident how this Christmas Treat makes a difference to the children by how happy they are as they enjoy the event. One little girl even said, “thank you for everything you have shared with us today.” What a beautiful way to celebrate the gift of God’s only Son by sharing Christmas with others.
