Iris Yeager

Iris Yeager – Volunteer

Iris began her journey with CSI Ministries the summer of 2004 when she went to Jamaica with her church, for Mission Outreach. She sang with a Praise Team that year while others did VBS and built houses. She was touched deeply by the needs of the Jamaican people and inspired by what CSI Ministries was doing to help them.

CSI Ministries has become a family to Iris as she has continued to go and serve in Jamaica almost every year since. In the summer of 2010, tragedy struck when she suddenly suffered the unexpected loss of her husband. Shortly after that she retired which has enabled her to volunteer her time in Jamaica and Salyersville, KY, several times a year and for longer periods of time. Iris says that the Jamaican people have stolen her heart and so she has to continue to go back to spend time with her Jamaica Family, assisting CSI in whatever way that she can. She even drives there, which is a big help to the full-time missionaries. Iris also volunteers at the Muncie CSI Office from time-to-time, assisting in whatever capacity she can.

Iris graduated from Mississinewa High School in Gas City, IN, in 1966. She is active in Tri Kappa, a philanthropic sorority exclusive to Indiana, as her Chapter’s recording secretary.

Grace United Methodist Church is Iris’s church home where she is currently the Director of Missions. In the past she has taught Sunday School, been involved in “Angel Threads,” sung in the choir and on a Praise team and lead several Bible study groups.

In her spare time, when she is not volunteering for CSI, she enjoys traveling and considers herself blessed to have had the pleasure to travel to Israel with a trip sponsored by CSI in 2013. Recently she began what she calls, “a new adventure with God,” writing, and enjoys writing meditations/devotions which she hopes will encourage, inspire and challenge her readers. Some of her writings are currently being published in the Hartford-City News Times newspaper on Saturdays.

Iris has 2 sons, 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren and currently resides in Hartford City, IN.
