Blog from Belize

Today we have words for you to read from our Executive Director who is in Belize with a team from CSI for the next few days:
Hi From Belize!
With uneventful flights 14 of us expectantly landed in Central America ready to experience the week. With a diverse team in age and geography we have melded well into a group that has gotten to know each other like old friends. Sunday morning found us in Western Paradise and worshipping at First Stone Church, which is also the site of our work for the week.

A great service, moving message given in English but interpreted to Spanish for this very diverse congregation and community) and enthusiastic singing was meaningful for us all. After the service we enjoyed the travel west to Xuanantinich -a Mayan ruins neas San Ignatio – were we scaled the 130 ft temple and explored the grounds; fascinating!

Returning to First Stone Church on Monday we meet pastor Phillipa who gets us oriented to the work site for the week. There is a special treat as the Youth Groups of Exodus Church and First Stone Church (Both pastored by Phillipa) have joined together to conduct a week long VBS. They are doing an amazing job leading the 50-60 little ones in crafts, Bible lessons, singing and games.

It makes a lively works site as we have in the first two days enclosed the stairwell to the second floor where we are installing windows, doors and and bracing. Fixing vehicles, hauling sand and other odds and ends seemed to pop up and are getting done as well. Most of the windows are being installed in the end walls that are composed of shipping containers so sparks are flying as we cut out the 4’x5′ openings!
We have enjoyed the community as grandma Hillda has stopped by to visit as well as Melham, a member of the village leadership, is always stopping by to greet us and chat. We have some great folks hear that have become very dear to us over the years. It is a blessed place to serve alongside our friends in Belize.
Grace,
John Key
