Today began with the 6:30 AM loading of the work truck followed by breakfast and team devotions, after which we headed out to our worksites in an area of Highgate called Capture Land.
Our original plan was to build 2 houses, so we have 2 different worksites. But God is always up to something bigger than we can imagine. Instead of building 2 houses, we are building 3!!! That’s right. We are building 3 houses on 2 worksites less than a half-a-stone’s-throw apart!
After arriving at the worksites we met the families who are receiving the houses, unloaded all of our supplies and materials, and started cutting, hammering and painting. Many of our team members had multiple opportunities to spend time playing games, coloring pictures and talking with the many children who came around.
By the end of workday number 1, all 3 houses were well underway with the back wall of each having been completed.
This evening we had special guests: a family with two girls in the CSI student support program joined us for dinner and a time of fellowship. We were all blessed by getting to know this sweet family.
After a long, hot, blessing-filled day, most of our team headed to bed early for some well-deserved rest. We are all looking forward to seeing God work again tomorrow.
