Friday we drove to Ocho Rios. We spent the morning at the straw market where the Jamaicans like to barter. Many of us prefer shopping in the stores nearby, where items are already priced. We ate lunch at varies places such as Kentucky Fried Chicken, Burger King or local eateries. We spent the afternoon at Dunn River Falls.

The sunny, warm day was perfect for climbing up the falls.

Others spent the time relaxing on the beach or swimming in the ocean.

Supper was delicious!  We enjoyed jerk chicken, rice and peas (like our kidney beans), festival bread and cake that the Jamaicans had made for Ted’s birthday.

Some of us rode in the van to Highgate to the Bethel church for the Great Banquet get together, called the Gathering. It was so good to see our friends. Others packed for our return home or spent the evening playing euchre. It was early to bed and early to rise.

Saturday we had breakfast at 6:30am. We ate French toast, fried plantain and fruit. Eli sang a favorite called ‘Me Coffee’, a song about drinking coffee in the morning.

We took a picture before we headed to the airport in Montego Bay. It is bittersweet to say good bye. It has been a wonderful week. We have grown closer as friends, grown closer to God and have been fortunate to bless others as they blessed us
