Building day one & one wall up! As you know we split up into two groups to build two different homes.  Today team A was building for Patsy, a 48 year old woman with six children and many grandchildren.  Team B was building for Sonya, a 29 year old woman with two children.  Sonya is a hair dresser who has been living with friends.  Both teams were excited and ready to leave for the sites!

Team A had a head start on team B.  Team A has the floor, one wall painted and standing up!  Team B is following close behind with the floor down, and the walls ready to go up tomorrow morning!

After getting some cold showers we were ready for VBS!  We were expecting a big crowd and that is exactly what we got- and then some.  The kids were happy to see us and we were happy to see them too.  Lavern, Kaylee, and Kristen did an excellent job of getting the kids to dance and sing to vacation bible school songs.  It wasn’t long before half of the mission team and the WHOLE congregation of kids were on the stage as well!  Kaylee was very helpful in leading with the songs and dances, I asked her to talk about her experience today.

“Vacation bible school was definitely a life changing experience. Never in my life have I  witnessed a group of kids who loved God so much. It was truly a blessing to be able to watch them worship God, sing praises, and even teach us some of their songs that they sing in their own church services. My favorite part of VBS was being able to watch Kelsey and Andrew interact with the kids they made relationships with two years ago when they came, especially Davonte. I hope that I have the opportunity to come back and visit the kids I met and to see how they grew physically and spiritually. Also, I met a little girl at VBS who has the same name as me!” -Kaylee Lax.

We had a great start to what will be a great week, and I cannot wait to see how we are all moved by the end of the week.  Thank you for all your prayers and love!
