This is Kristen Herbst from the Compass Church with our first blog entry:
Our group of 42 met in the wee hours of the morning on Saturday at the Compass Church to load up our possessions and supplies on the charter bus to the airport. It was certainly a long day of travel, but relatively uneventful.
Flying from Indianapolis to Houston and then Montego Bay, with several hours of drive time to Highgate, we finally arrived at our destination at 7:30 pm. Everyone was exhausted but in good spirits!
Along our drive we stopped at a fantastic little restaurant where we were served Jerk chicken and red beans and rice. We loved it!
We are so excited to see God in action in these next days, in our hearts as well as in our relationships with one another and the people of Jamaica!
Please pray for our whole team, both the youth and adults, serving here. As well as the CSI staff and volunteers whom we will be serving alongside, that we would hear God’s voice and be the hands and feet of Jesus to the families we serve, as well as to one another!
We are enjoying some amazing coffee this am after a solid night of sleep. We know God is good and we are truly blessed as we begin the adventure this Sunday morning in worship with the people of Bethel Church.
“Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature…And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen.” Mark 16:15, 20
