Home Building and Relationship Building
We were blessed with another great day of building homes for our beautiful families. We continue to develop relationships with the family members and their neighbors as we work alongside them. The teamwork also grows as we become more skilled at our tasks and work closely with one another.
All of the walls at each of the houses are up, the stairs have been built, much of the trim is done, and everything is painted! One of our houses was completed, while two more need final touches to the latrines, porches, and windows. The houses look amazing!
At two of our locations we had a nice rain to cool us off followed by an overcast afternoon. (Following our hard day of work, God further amazed us with a beautiful rainbow behind the gorgeous Jamaican landscape after we returned to the CSI guesthouse–it was gorgeous beyond what the photo can portray).
Thankfully, we have some down time at the work sites to share Jesus with the families and visitors. We have had some very engaging conversations with some very special people.
The concrete work at Bethel church was also completed today. This was a tough job, but so rewarding as the workers at the site are members of the church. They were a blessing to work with as they were very patient and just plain fun!
While we were away, Mark Ellcessor remained at CSI and hosted a pastor’s conference. He met with 25 plus local pastors and lay leaders from the surrounding churches to teach and learn, and to deepen their support network with one another as Christian leaders in their community. Mark was blessed by this experience, and many of the attenders expressed their gratitude to him for his teaching.
