In late October I was privileged to spend a day in Dublin. Oldest daughter Kaitlen, who was with me on the trip, wanted to visit Trinity College to see the Long Room at the college library. Words can hardly describe the feeling as you come up the staircase into a room almost as long as a football field. It feels more like a cathedral than a library. For a reader like my daughter it was almost heaven on earth to imagine curling up in the window of this library and reading all afternoon.
As I walked around the Long Room one particular Bible verse kept coming to mind: “And there are also many other things that Jesus did, which if they were written one by one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that would be written. Amen.” That is John 21:25. What a beautiful way for John to end his gospel!
The story of Jesus is truly the greatest story ever told. It is the one true story from which all other stories get their meaning. And you and I, our churches, our families, CSI Ministries, we all are blessed to play a part in this wonderful story. The story of Jesus and His works is still being written. We have just closed the chapter on 2016. Today, a new chapter begins. What will be the story of 2017? Whatever it is, let’s make sure we keep Jesus at the center. He is the Reason we exist.
I hope that 2017 is a blessed year for you. For some it will be a great year. For others, well, it is probably going to be the most difficult year of your life. But whatever comes, Jesus remains the same. We at CSI Ministries pray God’s blessing upon you in 2017. We hope that you live each day “looking unto Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith.”
