On Wednesday, January 27, team director, Kip Worrel, and executive director, Jody Kress, traveled to Salyersville, KY, to meet with Pastor Richard Greene. Led by Pastor Greene, the congregation at Licking River Baptist Church have started a new ministry, called the Koinonia Center (K-Center for short). This new center is going to serve as the host location for the teams as they work alongside of Licking River’s congregation.
There is much work to be done as we will be moving much of our equipment and supplies from one ministry location to another. The K-Center is housed in the sister school to where we have been working from as our ministry base for the last four years. It will be very familiar as it’s an identical floor-plan so teams who have been will feel very much at home! We will be organizing some move dates where we can work with the new center to move things, so if you are interested in helping out for a day or two – please contact us at the office by calling 800-286-5773 or e-mailing email@example.com.
This is a new adventure for both CSI Ministries and Licking River Baptist Church – but the excitement for what is ahead is growing. Richard, along with his wife Amy and their son Alex, served with several teams and help our missionaries prepare the facility for teams. They birthed a missionary in training program at their church to assist Marty and Sue Fuller with various tasks to help the ministry. Through these efforts the Lord placed the vision of creating a new mission center that would help drive more local efforts to advance the Kingdom. It is an incredible opportunity for both ministries to help one another and form a lasting partnership.
We are still working through the various ministry opportunities, but through discussions it is evident that teams are going to engage in an unforgettable experience. As our discussions progressed since this past fall we agreed to limit teams to five weeks this summer. Because this is so new for the church, we want to be able to walk with them the best we can as they get started. We also both wondered if we would fill five weeks – but as we have navigated things the Lord has delivered as four of the five weeks are already filled! We have one remaining week that is open from May 29 – June 3. The cost of the trip to Salyersville this next year is $350 per person, which also includes the project fee. Meals, housing and transportation in Salyersville will be provided.
If you are interested in learning more about the opportunity in Salyersville, or would like to book the last remaining trip for this summer, contact Kip Worrel at 800-286-5773 ext. 207 or firstname.lastname@example.org
