Women’s Great Banquet Cultural Day!
It’s been a wonderful day. During the night, heavy rains woke us. They haven’t had a good rain since last fall. Due to the rain and wind, we woke without electricity. This was soon remedied with a generator, however the power was back on by breakfast.
Here’s part of our group at breakfast in the dining room.
We ate Jamaican oatmeal flavored with cinnamon and nutmeg, pineapple, watermelon and Jamaican apples (that’s the white slices on the plate), and blueberry muffins.
Kyle shared the perfect morning devotion with us, before we headed to Ocho Rios as part of our cultural day.
On our way we saw God’s eternal promise – a beautiful rainbow.
We broke into smaller groups to shop at the straw market, local shops and eat lunch. Here are a few of us eating at John Crow’s. We enjoyed fish tacos, coconut shrimp, fish sandwich and beef sliders. All were delicious!
We returned to a delicious supper prepared by Pinto,Eli and Pearline. Roasted chicken with Pinto’s special barbecue sauce, mashed potatoes, string beans and the best cheese bread ever.
After supper we traveled to Clonmel Pottery to visit Don and Belva. They make hand made pottery that is sold throughout Jamaica. Many of us enjoyed picking out unique pottery for family and friends.
We drove into Highgate to the ice cream shop. We all enjoyed various flavors of hand dipped ice cream. Favorites were cherry vanilla, pistachio and cookies & cream.
It’s cool tonight and a bit windy. Perfect weather for sleeping with the windows open to hear the dogs singing (barking).
